Column: From the desk of Public Works

Morinville is implementing a new initiative called “Reuse it or loose it” where unwanted items from residents will be set loose and brought to a central location for others to browse through and take home, free of charge, for reuse.

This event will take place in conjunction with the Town-Wide Garage Sale scheduled for Saturday, May 25th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents are to bring their unwanted items to the Morinville arena parking lot any time after 4 p.m. on May 25th. Items containing Freon gas, such as fridges, freezers and air conditioning units will require a $25 deposit per item, made payable to the Town of Morinville, in advance of the event regardless if the item will be reused or disposed of at the landfill.

Receipts will be provided at Civic Place, 10125 – 100 Ave. Morinville residents will have from 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 25th until noon on Sunday, May 26th to take home items they wish to reuse absolutely free. Please see the insert in your next utility bill or visit our website for additional information. http://www.morinville.ca/downloads/reuse-it-or-loose-it.pdf
