Morinville – On Thursday May 23rd, the MCHS Track and Field Team returned from Foote Field in Edmonton as the 2013 Zone Track & Field Champions for yet another year, winning our 2nd Zone Championship in the last 3 years.

Led by a fabulous group of eighteen Grade 12 students, the Wolves once again dominated Foote Field. The motto for the day was “Be Good” (be good in preparation for your event – be good at your event – and be good people and ambassadors of our school. And be good our students were. Twenty gold medals, seven Silver and 17 Bronze meant the Wolves were once again top dogs in North Central Zone track!

An MCHS personal best of 20 students qualified for Provincials on June 7th and 8th. Ten male and ten female athletes finished either 1st or 2nd in their events to move on to the Provincial Meet in Calgary.

Coach Maslyk said he was very proud of the leadership of the 18 Grade 12 students. “They were fabulous role models, both on the field and off,” he said. “A great group of young athletes that have much potential as both good athletes and as future leaders here at MCHS.

Thirty-eight MCHS Wolves participated in the event resulting in the banner being brought back to the school’s gym.
