Local singer Michelle Anderson performed at the opening Friday. The Farmers’ Market is now operated by the Morinville Festival Society and the intention is to bring a little more of a festival atmosphere to the market this year with live entertainment.

This year’s market had the largest opening day attendance and number of vendors. Market Manager Korien Sampson said approximately 36 vendors were on hand for opening day.

Champion Petfoods, a major sponsor of the Morinville Festival Society, brought another sponsorship to Friday’s market – a cheque for $1,400 to help this year’s Morinville Farmers’ Market.

The Farmers’ Market runs every Friday from noon until 6 p.m. in the arena parking lot. The Market will run all three days of the upcoming St. Jean Baptiste Festival 2013.
