Highway 2 driver clocked at twice the speed limit

Morinville – A weekend speed enforcement set up has lead to a mandatory court appearance for a 35-year-old Edmonton man.

Police say the man, whose name has not been released, was clocked travelling 200 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone at 11:50 p.m. June 14. The incident occurred just south of Morinville near Carbondale Road.

The driver was stopped and issued a mandatory court violation ticket for excessive speeding. He is scheduled to appear in Morinville Court on August 13th, 2013.

  1. Thankfully the enforcement folks were at the right place at the right time ! That could have been another horrible incident ! Summers here and the idiots are really pushing limits ! Enjoy a safe summer !

  2. Thankfully, he was not driving within Morinville town limits because he would have been in for a shock 6 or 8 weeks after the fact with a ticket in the mail! That would have taught him!! A visible presence with an “on the spot” citation is the ONLY way to keep these idiots off the road and our roads safe. I much prefer that to having dangerous roads and the town / contractors bank accounts overflowing with useless photo radar fines! “Safety first for the citizens of Morinville” should be and must be the motto of Morinville council!
