Kings earn back-to-back wins over the weekend

Morinville – The Morinville Senior AA Kings played their first home-ice game Saturday night, defeating the visiting Westlock Warriors 6-5, an identical score to their Friday night win over the Whitecoart Wild. The weekend wins bring the Kings’ record to 2-1-0 this season and place them in a two-way tie with the Devon Barons for first place in the North Central Hockey League’s North Division.

Saturday night’s victory saw the Kings leading the Warriors 3-1 after the first period and leading 5-4 by the end of the middle frame.
Former Morinville Jet Dalen Paul picked up a pair of goals in each of the weekend games.
The Kings play their next home game Nov. 9 against the Devon Barons.

Morinville Jets one for two

Morinville – The Jets took to home ice Sunday night against the visiting 5-3-2 Sherwood Park Knights, emerging with an 8-5 loss to the CJHL East Division’s third ranked team.

Sunday night’s game followed a mid-week victory over the North Edmonton Red Wings, a road game where the Jets built from a 4-0 first period lead to conclude the contest with a 6-2 win.

The Jets take to the road for their next two games: Nov 1. agaisnt the Beverly Warriors and Nov. 3 against the Strathcona Bruins. The Jets return home Nov. 10 for a 6:45 p.m. game against the St. Albert Merchants.
