Morinville – The Morinville Kings continued their winning ways Saturday night with their third consecutive victory, this time toppling the visiting Athabasca Aces in a 5-4 decision. The home-ice victory followed a Friday night road trip to Westlock where the Kings upset the Warriors 8-7.

The weekend wins bring the Kings’ season record to 5-2-0 and put the Kings in the North Division’s top slot. With 10 points in seven outings, the Kings trail the league-leading Drayton Valley Wildcats by two points.

A quarter of the way through the North Central Hockey League’s 28-game season, Kings’ President Wayne Gatza attributes the club’s early season success to three Ss. “We have a team motto – sweat plus sacrifice equals success,” Gatza explained. “We have team buy in from all players. We stay focused and work hard as a team. We build on the positives and we are becoming a family.”

The Kings look to continue the success this week in a rematch against the Athabasca Aces. That game will take place in Athabasca Nov. 23. The Kings return home during Light Up the Night weekend and will be looking to light up the scoreboard against the Drayton Valley Wildcats. Game time for the Nov. 30 contest is 8:30 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
