Morinville – The Morinville Jets moved up a couple notches in the Capital Junior Hockey League standings last week, thanks to a series of wins on the road and at home.
An 8-3 victory over the visiting Beverly Warriors Jan. 8 gave the Morinville Jets their second win in as many outings, and brought the club’s season record to 12-14-2. Last week’s first home game saw the Jets and Warriors evenly placed in scoring opportunities but the Jets dominated in capitalizing on their chances. The Jets lead the Warriors 3-0 after 1, advanced the lead to 7-1 by the end of the middle frame, and added another in the final period to end the contest 8-3.
Sitting in fifth place in the CJHL’s West Division, the club entered the weekend with a road trip to take on the Sherwood Park Knights, a contest they emerged from with a 5-1 win, and a move up to third place in the West Division. Sunday night proved to be another notch for the Jets. An 8-3 victory over the visiting Spruce Grove Regals gave the club another two points this season and brought their record to 14-14-2. The Jets remain seated in third place in the West.
The club has eight games left in the CJHL regular season before hitting the ice for playoffs.
