The Morinville Wolves Senior Girls took the silver in a weekend eight-team invitational tournament held at Morinville Community High School Friday and Saturday.
The Wolves started the weekend by winning handily in a 56-21 victory Friday afternoon over the RF Staples Thunderbirds from Westlock.
The win put the girls up against the Spartan Athletics from Spruce Grove, a team that beat Parkland Composite 70-61 in their opener Friday. The Wolves emerged with an 81-39 win in the semi-final with the Spartans, a victory that placed them in the final against Lloydminster’s Holy Rosary Raiders Saturday night.
With the tournament riding on the final game, the girls fought hard abut fell 69-53 against the fith-ranked team in the province.

Coach Serge Froment said he was proud of the girls. “We played with a lot of heart,” he said. “[It was a] great weekend for our team.
