Morinville Jets take to the ice in weekend tournament

After a four-day training and tryout camp, the Morinville Junior B Jets will take to the ice this weekend in a pre-season tournament at the Ray McDonald Sports Center.

The Jets start the weekend with a game against the Stony Plain Flyers at 11:15 a.m. Saturday and follow it that afternoon by taking on the Leduc Riggers at 3:45 p.m.

The club returns to the ice Sunday for two games: a 2:30 p.m. matchup with the Strathcona Bruins and a 7 p.m. game with the St. Albert Merchants.

The Jets follow this weekend’s tournament with a Sept. 13 road trip to Cold Lake for an exhibition game.

The 2014-2015 Capital Junior Hockey League season starts Sept. 19 for the Jets when they take on the Stony Plain Flyers on the road. The club’s home opener is Sept. 21 at 6:45 p.m. They open the season at home taking on the St. Albert Merchants.

Coaches this year are Trent Brown and Jeff Montina.
