Booming Tree’s Gregory Shimzu and Twilla MacLeod put on a standing ovation performance at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre Saturday night. The 90-minute show combined traditional taiko drumming with taiko versions of songs by the Police, David Bowie, Massive Attack and Kate Bush. Joining the taiko drummers was hoop dancer Dallas Arcand Junior who performed an honour song on flute, demonstrated his hoop dancing talents, and performed some Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar.

The evening performance drew an audience of approximately 100 people and was preceded by a drumming workshop earlier in the day that drew out 30 participants, some of whom performed with Booming Tree in the evening show.
