The Morinville Jets were two for two over the weekend, defeating the Stony Plain Flyers 4-3 on the road Friday night and crushing the Fort Saskatchewan Hawks 8-3 Sunday night at home.

After a scoreless first period for both teams Friday night, the Jets and Flyers ended the second period tied 2-2. Although the Flyers pulled ahead by one early in the third, the Jets answered back with another pair to take the game 4-3.

Sunday night’s game saw the Jets pull off a major defeat against the Hawks, a team that now stands at two wins and two losses this season. After ending the opening frame with a 1-0 lead over the Hawks, the Jets quickly double their tally early in the second period and kept adding on the goals, while Mike Brown’s goaltending kept the Hawks reduced to three goals over two periods. Sunday night’s win bings the Jets to a 3-1-0 record and six points in the standings.

The club hits the road for a Wednesday night game against the North Edmonton Red Wings and return home for a Sunday night game against the Leduc Schwab Riggers. Game time is 6:45 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
