Jets 1 for 2 over weekend

The Morinville Jets were 1 for 2 over the weekend after a 6-3 loss to the Sherwood Park Knights Friday night and a 8-5 home-ice win over the visiting Beverly Warriors Sunday night. The weekend point tally bring the Jets to an 7-2-1 record this season.

After leading the Knights 1-0 at the end of the first period Friday night, the Jets remained scoreless during middle frame, a period where the Knights piled on three goals. Although the Jets came back with three goals in the third, the Knights’ pair gave the Jets a 6-3 defeat.

Sunday night’s home game against the Warriors saw the Jets leading 3-1 at the end of the first period. That tally doubles to 6-3 by the end of the middle frame. With a three goal lead at the top of the third period, the Jets pressed on to an 8-5 finish.

The Jets take to the road Wednesday for another go at the Edmonton Mustangs. They return to home ice Sunday night at 6:45 to take on the Wetaskiwin Icemen.

Phoenix takes some metal

Phoenix Taekwondo’s Morinville location may have had the smallest team in Calgary for the Tri-Provincial Championships Oct. 18, but they sure brought back a lot of hardware! Mr. Chris Fish took Silver in Sparring, Bronze in Patterns- Men’s 36-45 1st – 3rd Dan division Mr. David Wandler took Gold in Sparring, Silver in Patterns – Men’s 18-35 1st – 5th Dan division, and Mr. Tim Abel took Gold in Sparring, Gold in Patterns – Men’s 36-45 1st – 3rd Dan division.

Kings take to the ice this weekend

The Morinville Senior AA Kings take tot he ice in their season home opener Saturday night. The club takes on the Devon Barons in that home opener. Game time is 8:30 p.m.

The club travels to Whitecourt Friday for an 8 p.m. game.

Results of the Kings Oct. 18 road game were not available by our deadline due to the NCHL league site being down.
