The Morinville Junior B Jets took to the ice Sunday night to face the basement dwelling Wetaskiwin Icemen (2-7-1). The boys emerged from that contest with a 6-2 win, their eighth win in 12 outings
The team built a steady lead from a 1-1 first period ending. Doubling their tally in the second, the Jets emerged to lead Wetaskiwin 3-1 heading into the third. Although Wetaskiwin added another to their number in the final frame, the Jets built another three hits on the scoreboard to end the game 4-2.
Sunday night’s victory made up for the club’s 11-4 defeat at the hands of the Edmonton Mustangs Oct. 22, a game that was the Jets’ fourth loss of the season, and one that pushed them into a two-way tie with the Mustangs for second place in the West Division.
The Jets play one game this week, a Sunday night home game against the Stony Plain Flyers. Game time is 6:45 p.m.
