Morinville Jets pull off back-to-back wins

by Morinville News Staff

It was a good week for the Morinville Jets. Sunday night’s 6-5 win over the Edmonton Mustangs, their second in as many outings, was the icing on the cake of a week that saw the Jets defeat the North Edmonton Red Wings 6-5 in overtime.

The back-to-back wins bring the Jets to a 23-10-2 record this season. Sitting three games from playoffs, the Jets are sitting in the third slot in the Capital Junior Hockey League, three points behind the Red Wings and 10 points behind the St. Albert Merchants.

Although statistics could shift between now and the final game, it is shaping up for a Jets / Mustangs opening round in playoffs. That could change should Stony or Beverly pass the Jets in the remaining games.

The club takes to the road Wednesday night to face the Stony Plain Flyers at 8 p.m. The Jets’ final two games of the season are at home. They face the Spruce Grove Regals Friday night at 8 p.m. and the St. Albert Merchants Feb. 10 (Tuesday) at 8:30 p.m.
