County active in first quarter

A Sturgeon Rural Crime Watch email of Apr. 14 indicates an active amount of files in the County for the first quarter of 2015.

According to information provided tot he crime watchdog group by Corp. Sheldon Robb, there were 158 files opened. These include the following types of crimes:

Break and Enters – 37
Theft from Motor Vehicles – 16
Theft under $5000 – 48
Theft over $5000 – 7
Mischief – 37
Possession of property obtained by crime – 13

Mail box theft

Police are reporting that sometime between Apr. 12 and 13, group mailboxes were broken into. The Canada Post boxes were located near 54513 Range Road 251.

As the crime was reported to police by Canada Post, RCMP do not know what was stolen.

RCMP are reminding citizens this type of crime will spike over the next few weeks with tax return cheques being mailed out

They are asking residents to report any suspicious activity to RCMP. Anyone with specific information on this crime is asked to call Cst. Rouse at 780-939-4520. Please reference file 2015-411517.
