It’s Our Business: Sobeys holding a food fair this weekend

by Morinville News Staff

The recent snowfall might have momentarily diverted people from thinking about summer, but Sobeys Morinville are laying out their summer best with an in-store food fair Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“It’s to get people to come in and try all our great new items,” said franchise owner Shaun Thompson. “We have seven new burgers that have launched in the meat department, six new salads that have launched in the a la carte and deli. We also have a few new baked products and a great new Nutella line.”

Visitors to the store Saturday will have the opportunity to try out many of the products the Thompsons and their staff are excited about.

“There’s going to be lots of demoing to get everyone to try the new products,” Thompson said. “Summer’s coming and we want to get people excited about food, excited about the new products. It’s what we are about – better food for all.”

Thompson said in addition to families having an opportunity to try out items in the store’s Better Summer line; the store will have a carnival atmosphere for children with a clown and possibly a face painter.

In addition to the new product lines, the store is promoting its daily meal special. “There are seven great ideas for people in soccer or baseball, those evening sports,” Thompson said, adding the a la carte options include pizza, ribs, chicken and other quick meal ideas for busy families.

The Saturday event, running 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. will include a free draw for a $100 Sobeys gift card, to be drawn on Sunday.
