100 Street closed to traffic this week

by Morinville News Staff

CN is planning a temporary road closure on 100 Street south of 95 Avenue in Morinville from 8 a.m. May 27 until 9 p.m. May 28. CN is closing the road to allow them to make upgrades to the CN Railway crossing.

A CN representative told Morinville News the upgrade involves raising track to make rail crossings smoother for traffic. The project is being done from Morinville to Smith and involves adding more support under the track to make it level with the roadway.

The Town of Morinville advised residents through their Facebook page Friday to use Highway 2 or East Boundary Road (RR252) as alternate routes in and out of the community.

Pedestrian and non-motorized bike traffic will not be affected and will be escorted through the work zone.
