The week of Aug. 17 to 23 was an active one in the region. Here are some pictures of the events that we attended. Above – Dax Toelle puts a little style into his trip down the inflatable slide at the Father’s House Block Party Friday night. The event was held at the skate park and organized by the church’s youth group.

Plane perspective
A private plane is viewed between the branches of a tree as it soars over Morinville.
Lunch time
A male hairy woodpecker (Picoides villosus) grabs a little lunch from an elm tree. The bird is identified by its black and white colouring. Males have a touch or red on their heads.

Rebecca Balanko sent us this amazing photo of a dragonfly dining on a wasp, which have been prolific in her yard this year.
BINGO
Alyssa Smith (left) and Shaylene Reynolds (right) joined a number of Town of Morinville summer camp participants and Heritage Lodge residents in a game of BINGO Wednesday afternoon.
Quidditch
The soccer pitch at Cardiff Park played host to a game of Quidditch, a sport from the Harry Potter novels. The Morinville Community Library has used the novels as the theme of this year’s Summer Reading Program. Participant Keenen Sherk makes his way across the field ahead of opponants. The match took place Friday afternoon.
