Morinville Public School hosted the students from Lilian Schick School of Bon Accord on Thursday afternoon in the first week of the 2015/2016 Sturgeon Volleyball League Schedule. It was the MPS Dragons versus the Lilian Schick Knights.

MCHS Boys take third tournament

The MCHS Junior HIgh Boys travelled to Fort Saskatchewan this past weekend. The boys were undefeated in pool play against two Sherwood Park teams and JP II from Fort Sask.

The team then played Edmonton Christian in the semi-final where they came out with a 20-0 lead behind the great serving of Evan Kohut. The boys cruised to a 25-4, 25-14 victory.

In the final the Wolves played Sherwood Heights from Sherwood Park who had played in the final of their previous tournament also. The Wolves again came out strong winning in convincing fashion 25-14, 25-15.

The team will travel to Westlock in 2 weeks to take on some tough teams from our zone. They will then host their home tourney on Oct. 23 & 24th.

Jets one for three during week

The Morinville Jets 2-0 win over the visiting Spruce Grove Regals Sunday night pulled the club to a 3-3-0 record this season. Sunday night’s contest was the club’s first win in four games and put a positive spin on a rough week for the Jets.

After falling 7-2 to the Sherwood Park Knights Sept. 27, the Jets had back-to-back losses Wednesday and Friday. The Jets lost 5-3 to the Beverly Warriors on the road Sept. 30 and 6-5 to the visiting Edmonton Royals Friday night at home.

Though leading 3-2 at the end of the second period friday night, the Jets were pummeled in the final frame with four goals from the Royals to the Jets’ pair.

Sunday saw the Jets keeping the Regals completely off the board. The Jets next game is Oct. 9 on the road against the Beaumont Chiefs.
