Attempted robbery at Morinville drug store

by Morinville News Staff

Police vehicles surrounded Gurdian Drugs on 100 Street Sunday afternoon after an attempted robbery at the store. At least three regular units and a dog-handler were on scene around 3:30 p.m. Nov. 8 and police were still on scene early Sunday night.

Two residents told Morinville News the call was for an armed robbery or potential armed robbery. That was confirmed with some details by Guardian Drugs Manager Dorothy Coughlin Sunday night.

“We had an attempted armed robbery just before 3 pm. They got nothing,” Coughlin wrote on Morinville News’ Facebook page. “Our staff are all ok, a little shook up. We will re-open again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning. Thanks for your concern.”

Morinville News was not able to obtain further details on the incident; however, an RCMP member on scene Sunday afternoon indicated a press release was to be issued likely Monday morning.

We will bring further details as they become available.
