The Town of Morinville is hoping families will join them for the annual Snowman Festival and Family Day Weekend activities planned for Feb. 13 to 15.
Partnerships with different organizations will provide a variety of family activities the Town is hoping people will enjoy.
“The Snowman Festival is a great event for the entire family and allows us to work together to build a stronger community for our residents and celebrate our commitment to family well-being,” said Melonie Dziwenka, Town of Morinville FCSS/Community Program Coordinator in a release Jan. 28.
Activities planned for the three-day event include the Community Snowman Competition with a Back to Basics theme.
The Town is dispensing with the usual judging panel this year, opting to let the community vote for the winner. Submissions will be accepted until 4 p.m. Feb. 11. Those wishing to vote can do so Feb. 15 at the Ray McDonald Sports Center between 10 a.m. and noon.
Other free activities include skating, fishing, dancing, food, campfire smores, ice sculptures, and sports activities.
FCSS is once again hosting the Disconnect to Connect program, an initiative that encourages families to disconnect electronically and to reconnect as a family. Dziwenka is encouraging families to let her know how many electronic-free hours they spent together by calling her at 780-939-7839 or emailing mdziwenka@morinville.ca.
