A familiar face is once again being seen in the Bon Accord Town Office.

Former Town Chief Administrative Officer Vicki Zinyk is now back in the role on an acting, part-time basis.
Zinyk is currently the General Manager of North Parkland Power REA Ltd. An agreement between the town of Bon Accord and North Parkland Power allows her to continue in the position while on contract as CAO for Bon Accord
The contract is for two years, but it can be terminated if a suitable full-time permanent CAO is found within that time.

“This solution provides an immediate and cost-effective means of filling the much-needed CAO position for our community,” stated Mayor Randy Boyd. “Vicki’s previous experience and familiarity with the town means we can begin work instantly.”

Zinyk’s prior knowledge of Bon Accord projects, priorities, budget, and culture is considered a particular advantage.
“I am eager to re-engage with the community, and support the priorities of Council and Administration,” she said. “I believe this arrangement will be beneficial and provide the necessary long-term succession planning for the Town.”

According to Charles Newell, North Parkland Power Board Chair, “We believe strongly in supporting the communities that reside within and around our service area and are looking forward to a successful partnership with Bon Accord.”
Part of Zinyk’s job will be acting as a mentor for the occupant of the new Assistant CAO position that has been created. With the necessary mentorship and training, the Assistant CAO could potentially take over the full-time CAO role in the future.

Barry Sturrock is acting as Assistant CAO until a candidate is found for the position on an ongoing basis.

Zinyk replaces Westlock resident Laurie Hodge, hired by the Town as CAO in August last year and dismissed at the beginning of December.
