Morinville resident receives caring award

Michael Dullege of Morinville was recognized with a Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award Friday in a ceremony at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts in Vancouver. Dullege received the award from Governor General David Johnston.

Dullege’s citation reads: “Whether in Alberta, New Brunswick or Afghanistan, Captain Michael Dullege has advanced the quality of life for both young and old. He has coordinated local food, clothing and book drives; fundraised for palliative care in Fredericton; supported a local girls’ school in Kabul; and volunteered for both Habitat for Humanity and St. John’s Ambulance.”

More than 150 Canadians were recognized for their excellence, courage or exceptional dedication to service Friday. The honours included the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award, Exemplary Service Medal, Decoration for Bravery, and Meritorious Service Decoration.

Another of Friday’s recipients was Guylaine Jacques from Bon Accord, who also received the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.
