Sturgeon County held an open house Wednesday night to inform residents about the County’s vision for a common campus. Sturgeon County employees are presently located in nine buildings on six sites, and four County departments are housed in leased space.

Sturgeon County purchased 50 acres last year, approximately 1.5 kilometres east of Morinville along Highway 642, which will serve as the proposed location for a future County Campus. That Campus would consolidate the majority of Sturgeon County staff and resources at one location.

A two-building and three-building concept was on display at the Community Meeting held Wednesday night at the Sturgeon County Centre. No cost for the proposed project was identified during the meeting.

The land is located beside the Town of Morinville’s newly acquired 77 acres to be developed for recreational purposes. Sturgeon County will have their land serviced at the same time as the Town and both venues could have the same access point.
