RCMP Morinville – Female charged with cruelty to animal

submitted by Morinville RCMP

On June 3rd, 2016, Morinville Enforcement Services in conjunction with Morinville RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Morinville. Several domesticated animals were seized as a result due to the overall deplorable living conditions. The animals were turned over to Morinville Veterinary clinic for immediate attention and care.

Carli Gold, a 26-year-old from Morinville, was charged with one count of cruelty to animals and four counts under the Animal Protection Act of Alberta. She will appear in Morinville Provincial court on June 16, 2016.

Both agencies would like to thank the public with their assistance in this investigation.

  1. We need to bring the fines up to the hundreds of thousands of dollars and guaranteed time of at least two years in prison for “proven” animal abuse!

    • Totally agree Warren, 100%. In this situation, however, it’s NOT abuse. There may be some neglect, but it is due to the emotional and mental state of the individual. It was not intentional, I am sure. I know this person. I know how much she cared for and loved her animals. I also know she suffered an extremely traumatic personal tragedy that changed her life dramatically. She is suffering from severe mental depression/PTSD. Please have some compassion when commenting.

      • Yea I get that, but she shouldn’t put her animals in such shitty living arrangements just because she can’t handle herself. I don’t think the animals deserve that.

      • Thats unfortunate that she had to go through a traumatic personal tragedy, but that is absolutely NO excuse to treat the animals the way they were treated. There are lots of people who have gone through shitty situations and still treat people and their pets the way they deserve to be treated. I myself have gone through a traumatic life changing event, and I still treat my pup the way she deserves!!!

        • I agree completey. I had no idea it was as bad as this. I’m totally in shock at what I’m hearing.

          • I guess I thought I knew her, obviously I didn’t. At least, not the person she is now. 🙁

      • I recant some of what I said. I am just getting the facts now also. I had no idea things had gotten so bad, it’s been some time since I’ve talked to Carli, and 2 1/2 years since I had seen her. So sad it all took this horrible turn. I do hope she gets the mental help she needs and gets her life back on track. So awful for the animals though. Breaks my heart, what a terrible situation.

      • I take that back. I commented before I knew the extent of this. It clearly was abuse and neglect. Whether mental illness was the cause, who knows. I’m shocked and very saddened. 🙁

  2. Thank you to all the officials who invested their time and efforts to save these animals from such a horrible situation. You are all great!

    • Praying that the same kind of invested time and effort will be made to the other victim here, Jessie. I really don’t think anyone judging here can HONESTLY say they have never been led down the wrong path, or made bad choices, or neglected something vey important to them because of emotional turmoil.
