Morinville RCMP respond to rural home invasion in Gibbons

submitted by RCMP

On August 10 in the early morning hours, Morinville RCMP were dispatched to a home invasion at a rural property near Gibbons. Unidentified masked individuals forced entry into the home and stole property from the home, including the homeowner’s Van.

Late in the evening on Aug. 9, three or four males wearing gloves and masks broke into a rural property. One of the suspects was armed with what is believed to be a shotgun. The homeowner was tied up while his home and property was ransacked. After the suspects departed, the homeowner managed to walk to a neighbouring property to seek police assistance.

The 68-year-old homeowner suffered only minor injuries during this incident.

The items that were stolen from this residence were likely known to be there by only a few people. It is believed that this was not a random, but rather a targeted occurrence and that the suspects came prepared with a trailer.

The Morinville RCMP continue to investigate this occurrence with the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
