Jets take down Riggers

by Morinville News Staff

It was a 6-4 win for the Morinville Jets on the road Friday night. The club came back from a string of five losses and overtime losses to earn their first win in six outings.

Though the Jets found themselves scoreless in the opening period and trailing 2-0 after 20, the Junior B team bounced back in the middle frame to bring the contest to a 3-3 tie.

Two of the Jets’ trilogy of goals in the second period came from Tyler Hagel, the other from Scott Woloshyn. The Riggers only goal of the period was on the power play.

Brett Dubuc was the star of the final frame for the Jets, pulling two goals early in the period to pull the Jets ahead 5-3. After grabbing one on the power play to narrow the gap to 5-4, Leduc pulled their goalie, allowing Duboc to get an empty netter with 4:58 left on the clock.

The Jets head into Sunday night’s home-ice contest against the Bruins with a 3-2-4 record. Game time is 6:45 p.m.
