It was the third win in a row for the Morinville Kings Saturday night on the road in Daysland. The Senior AA club defeated the Northstars 7-6 in overtime giving them a 3-0-0 record and top seat in the North Central Hockey Leagues standings.

Jamie Johnson, assisted by Lyndin Lewis and Kyle Harris opened the scoring for the Kings early in the first period. It would be the only goal of the game.

Though leading 1-0 at the start of the middle frame, the Kings found themselves trailing 3-2 at the end of 20, the Northstar’s pull-ahead goal scored on the power play with 1:17 left in the period.

But the Kings came back with a trilogy of goals by the halfway mark of the last period to lead the game 5-2.

After a back and forth volley of goals, Daysland poured on another two in the final three minutes to drive the contest to overtime.

Wayne Gatza Jr. picked up the game-winning goal off an assist from Kyle Harris.

The Kings are home this week for their Saturday night game against Whitecourt. Gametime is 8:30 at the Ray McDonald Sports Center.
