Two local seniors’ organizations received $20,994.45 from Council during the Aug. 22 regular Council meeting.

The West Sturgeon Aging in Place Foundation operates the West Country Hearth facility, providing affordable housing within a rural setting with a non-profit objective. The second recipient, Homeland Housing, is a non-profit organization that provides subsidized housing for seniors managing facilities in Sturgeon County and surrounding areas.

The funds given to the two groups were raised through sponsorship and registrations at the Mayor’s Annual Golf Tournament hosted in late June at Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club.

““On behalf of Sturgeon County, I am thankful for the generous donations from the participants and sponsors of the 2017 Mayor’s Golf Tournament,” said Mayor Tom Flynn. “With the support of businesses and the community, the tournament raised over $20,000 to support local seniors housing,”
