MP Dane Lloyd appointed to O’Toole’s Shadow Cabinet

by Stephen Dafoe

Newly-elected Conservative Party of Canada Leader Erin O’Toole announced his Conservative Shadow Cabinet for the 43rd Parliament’s second session Tuesday.

“Today, I am proud to present the Conservative government in waiting that will defeat Justin Trudeau’s corrupt Liberal government in the next election,” O’Toole said in a media release Tuesday. “In the coming weeks, we will be presenting a plan to put hardworking Canadians first, lead our nation out of this crisis and rebuild our great country.”

Among the 52 appointees is Sturgeon River-Parkland Member of Parliament, the Honourable Dane Lloyd, who will serve O’Toole as Shadow Minister for Digital Government. The Digital Government post was created by Trudeau in 2019 to improve digital government services in the digital age.

As a critic, Lloyd’s role is to hold the Minister for Digital Government, Joyce Murray, to account.

“I’m very pleased to have been appointed to serve as Conservative Critic for Digital Government,” Lloyd said Tuesday. “In this age of pandemic, there is an increased need for secure, accessible and effective digital services. I look forward to championing digital reform and holding the Liberal Government to account on their digital agenda.”
