submitted by Morinville RCMP

In the morning of September 8, 2020 Morinville RCMP were investigating a possible impaired driver near Gibbons, Alberta.  Police were able to determine at this time the licence plate on the vehicle was stolen.  With the assistance of a conscientious member of the general public Morinville RCMP were able to locate the erratically driven motor vehicle. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however the vehicle did not pull over. Police shortly thereafter deactivated their emergency equipment due to public safety reasons.  Further reports from the public advised the vehicle continued driving dangerously and approximately 11 kilometres later the vehicle went off the road at a high rate of speed and collided with a residence on highway 642 east of the Town of Morinville causing significant damage to the vehicle and residence. The driver despite the collision fled on foot.
Police then immediately provided containment and called in RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) and RCMP Air Services.  Air Services located the male crawling through the barley field attempting to get away.
As a result Bradley Furness (age 38) was arrested without incident.  The vehicle that Furness was driving was determined to be stolen as well.
Bradley Furness is charged with the following offences
  • Flight from Police
