UPDATED: Morinville RCMP investigating potential pedestrian hit and run fatality

Mar. 7, 2022 UPDATE – 4:30 pm

The pedestrian killed in a hit and run collision on Hwy. 28, 1 km North of the  Anthony Henday, on Feb. 26, 2022, has been identified as Angel Cardinal (19), of Edmonton. Morinville RCMP continues to investigate this tragic event and are asking for the public’s assistance.

RCMP are asking to speak to anyone who was travelling on Hwy. 28 near the Anthony Henday on Feb. 26, 2022, between 4:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. including;

  • An unknown male who called 911 to report the incident at 5:22 a.m. using a phone calling app.
  • An unknown female driving a dark-coloured vehicle who stopped North of the collision scene.

Morinville RCMP are also looking to speak to individuals that knew or saw Angel and could provide information as to her being in the area where she was found.

Morinville RCMP are currently on scene of a potential pedestrian hit and run fatality on Hwy 28 1 km North of the Anthony Henday. RCMP anticipate remaining  on scene for several hours while they investigate the circumstances of this tragic incident. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction and RCMP are asking people to avoid the area.

RCMP are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident which occurred in the early morning hours.

Information about the deceased will not be released until Next of Kin notification has been completed.
