Morinville Council Dismisses Chief Administrative Officer, Appoints Interim Replacement

Submitted by Town of Morinville

Morinville Council met today to consider the municipality’s Chief Administrative Officer position. Council has elected to revoke the appointment to enable a change in leadership. The termination of the Chief Administrative Officer’s employment was done without cause.

“Mr. Narayan has provided leadership during challenging times. However, Council has decided to take a new direction and wishes him success in his future endeavours,” said Mayor Boersma.

Mr. Narayan joined Morinville as the Chief Administrative Officer in September of 2022.

Council has appointed Michelle Hay as the interim Chief Administrative Officer pending a search for a permanent replacement.

    • Firing a CAO is an expensive piece of business. Many contracts contain clauses that result in payouts of 6 months to a year of salary. For CAOs it is common to be on the higher side of that for sure. Some are even more dear depending on tenure. It’s likely in the 100s of thousands.

  1. In all my 18 yrs of living in Morinville, we have seen this occur more than it should. What is council trying to hide.

  2. Yeah does this go back as far as Arthur Soetaert, Ross Quinn, Maryanne Balsillie, Ted Code, Loyd Bertschi, Paul Krauskopf, Lisa Holmes and Barry Turner?

  3. Cool. Thanks for the even higher tax increase next year. Counsel is a made up of a bunch of losers.
