Before I begin with my comments on the Request for Proposal (RFP) going out to the Automated Traffic Enforcement (ATE) contractors I would like to acknowledge and praise Deputy Mayor Gord Putnam for asking for an addition to the proposal which was to include better “public interface and education” in the RFP. I would also like to praise Councillor Barry Turner and Councillor Stephen Dafoe for wanting to open the RFP to all contractors and not just those who offer the “Full Turn Key” solution… […]

Meeting set to discuss Cardiff intersection

A private meeting has been scheduled for Nov. 18 to discuss the future of the Cardiff Corner intersection. MLA Maureen Kubinec, the Minister of Transportation, Honourable Ric McIver, Mayor Lisa Holmes, Sturgeon County Mayor Tom Flynn, and Deputy Mayor Gord Putnam will all be in attendance. Shortly after Council’s Swearing In Ceremony on Oct. 29, Kubinec said that she had spoken with McIver who agreed that a meeting should be set to discuss further development of the intersection in order to make it safer. Morinville – The official Swearing In Ceremony for Morinville’s recently elected Mayor Lisa Holmes and Council members Nicole Boutestein, Stephen Dafoe, Brennan FitzGerald, Rob Ladouceur, Gord Putnam and Barry Turner was held in town chambers the evening of Oct. 29. Holmes revealed great expectations for this new council, explaining: “Our Council will begin a fairly in-depth series of orientation meetings over the next few weeks. We will be touring each of the town departments to meet staff and get familiar with processes and procedures. Our focus will be on getting up to speed with the financial processes as our first priority will be working on the 2014 budget.”… […]

Lawyer’s call to the Bar marks Morinville first

Morinville – A small ceremony at the Morinville Court House Friday afternoon marked the start of a career for a local lawyer, but the gathering also marked an historical first in the community. Jessy Inkpen, who has spent the past year articling with Putnam and Lawson, was the first lawyer to be called to the Bar in Morinville. Judge Vaughn Myers conducted the ceremony.

Inkpen took her oath, signed the necessary papers and received her robe in the courtroom after Myers accepted the application to the Alberta Law Society submitted by Morinville lawyer Gord Putnam on Inkpen’s behalf… […]
