St. Albert RCMP looking for fall suspects

St. Albert – RCMP have released two photos of two suspects in two separate incidents that occurred in the city last fall.

The first unsolved crime dates back to October 7-8, 2009. A male suspect entered an unlocked truck parked in a Sheridan Drive driveway.

Morinville Blood Donor Clinic set for end of month

Province aids Thorhild County for spring fires

Edmonton – Thorhild County received some good news from the province July 8. Alberta will be sending $10 million Thorhild’s way under the province’s Municipal Wildfire Assistance Program (MWAP). The money is being granted to help Thorhild County recover from the costs of fighting the wildfire that hit the county last May.

Sturgeon County teen killed in quad accident

Westlock – A 15-year-old Sturgeon County teen died over the weekend after being thrown from the ATV she was a passenger on.

Ashton Parrish had been one of three teens riding a quad in the Spruce Island Lake area, north of Westlock. Westlock RCMP report that the quad left the road and went off the trail, ejecting all three teens.

Pow-wow continues traditions, resurges others

Alexander – Warm weather and a positive spirit made for a successful opening day to this year’s Kipohtakaw Annual Traditional Pow-Wow. The Grand Entry took nearly 10 minutes, as all styles of dancer in their multi-coloured regalia made their way into the arena to the beat of the host drum and the patter of MC Douglas Bonaise.

Tribal Councillor Bernard Paul said that approximately 170 dancers and nine drum groups had registered prior to Saturday’s grand entry, with more dancers anticipated to sign up prior to the Sunday event.
