A recent letter to this newspaper outlined the issue with Sturgeon County funding to the Town of Morinville Community Library. While Keith’s arguments are valid, they focus on only one part of the funding issues. To support Keith and the Library, here are several other arguments that should be cause for Town Council and Morinville residents to reconsider the funding it gives to our Library.

The Morinville Public Library is a bustling, vibrant community space that provides key services to many residents of Morinville and Sturgeon County; like all municipal services, however, it costs money to run the library (which is a not-for-profit organization). […]
The Morinville/Sturgeon Regional Recreation Facility Citizens Group presented our concerns to the Town Council of Morinville on September 8 and to the Sturgeon County Council on October 27. Our members have attended Council meetings and open houses over that past 2 years hoping to see a Multi-use Regional Recreation Facility become a reality in the near future. […]
Last year, my family and I were donation recipients of the Adopt a Family program that Morinville Marvelous Moms organizes. The donations last year changed Christmas for us – it has always been a time of very high stress. My husband works as a roofer, so usually doesn’t have much income in winter. I am a student doing online university at home, so I bring in a bit of income from student loans. We have three daughters aged 9, 6, and 4 to provide for. Adding Christmas on top of all the regular expenses is beyond challenging. […]
Monique Webb’s 1W class at Morinville public School sent us their letters to Santa Claus for publication. We’re running them in their unedited charm. Be sure to see our video interview with this class about their favourite thing about Christmas. We’re hoping to talk to Notre Dame students later this week. […]

Family farming is a way of life in Alberta. It is intrinsic to the fabric of our rural communities, and has been for more than 100 years.
I can also tell you from experience that nobody cares more about the safety of farms than the moms and dads who live there. Farm workers are more than employees, they are friends, neighbors, and in many cases family. […]
The Knights of Columbus St. Anne Council, on behalf of St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Parish and the Morinville Food Bank, re pleased to announce that they will b coordinating the Christmas Hamper Project for Morinville and District once again this year. Las year 103 hampers containing food and numerous children’s toys and gifts were … […]

Safety on Alberta roads is always our top priority. We all have a stake in our efforts to reduce the number of deaths and injuries on our roads. Government, law enforcement and the many traffic safety partners are working together to find solutions. Drivers also need to realize the importance of the role they play too. […]
