Sturgeon County – Morinville RCMP and volunteer firefighters have been busy responding to weather-related collisions.

Morinville RCMP were dispatched to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 37 near Range Road 244 in Sturgeon County around 8:20 a.m. Thursday morning. Morinville – The campaign to save the steeple of historic St. Jean Baptiste Church is a lot closer to reality now that the fundraising campaign is $1,100 shy of its $250,000 goal. The parish learned this fall they could apply for a federal matching dollar grant that could give them up to $250,000 of the half million needed to do repairs to the church’s steeple, damaged by years of rain and wood rot.
