Jessica Martel run enters its third year

The tragedy of a woman’s death will be used as the motivation for triumph – the triumph of completing 5- to 10-kilometre runs and the triumph of raising funds to provide safe shelter for victims of abuse. The Jessica Martel Memorial Run, set to take place June 21 pays tribute to the memory of Martel, killed by her common law husband
in April of 2009. Organized by the Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation (JMMF), the group is hoping to raise in excess of $20,000 from the event, monies that will fund various initiatives to support victims of domestic violence. […]

Candlelight vigil honours Morinville woman’s passing

Morinville – Five years to the day after a Morinville woman was slain by her common law husband, a candle light vigil will be held in her memory and to raise awareness of domestic violence and the work the Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation (JMMF) is doing to help women in need. The event will take place Apr. 29 at 7 p.m. at Morinville Christian School and all are welcome to attend.
