Morinville – Friday night’s home-ice contest against the 1-13-0 Wabamun Wings could hardly be described as exciting hockey. Although the 13-0 victory gave the Titans another two points and increased their goals for and against numbers by a margin of 13, the Wings provided little challenge to the Titan’s superior talents.
The Titans ended the first period outshooting the Wings by a margin of two to one and outscoring the visiting club 3-0.
The wing’s chances did not improve in the middle frame. Despite launching another four shots at backstop Jeff Pelletier, the netminder continue to prevent the Wings from rippling his mesh. However, the same could not be said for Wabamun. The Titans picked up another two goals during the period to increase their margin to 5-0.
Pelletier’s shutout continued trough the first half of the final frame until he got in a dust up with former Titan Sheldon Keiser and was ejected from the game with a 10-minute misconduct. Pelletier was replaced with Jordan Brand who continued his fellow goaltenders track record of halting whatever was sent his way.
The Titans picked up another eight goals during the frame to give them a 13-0 victory over the Wings.
The victory brought the Titan’s record to 12-3-3 on the season.
There are nine games remaining for the Titans this season, two of which are against the Seera Stealth, the only team currently ahead of them in the league. The remaining seven games are against teams positioned in the lower levels of the Noralta Junior Hockey League standings.
As such, it is possible the Titans could end the regular season with at least a 19-4-3 record and 41 points. Regardless of the outcome of their contest against the Stealth, the Titans are likely to be well positioned heading into the playoffs.
The Titans’ next game is against the Seera Icemen Saturday night. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
