Jets to face Mustangs this weekend

Morinville – A 4-0 victory for the Spruce Grove Regals Wednesday night eliminated the North Edmonton Red Wings from this year’s CJHL playoffs and put the Morinville Jets on a path to take on the Edmonton Mustangs in a best-of-five round two playoff series set to begin Friday.

Second round of playoffs take the teams remaining after the first round and rank them from 1 to 4 according to their regular season point totals. The Jets, whose first place finish in the West Division gave them a first round bye, were set to take on the fourth-ranked West Division team; the Warriors, who finished second, will take on the third-ranked team. Spruce Grove’s win Wednesday night put the Edmonton Mustangs in the fourth spot in the West.

According to Morinville Jets President Brent Melville, the Jets will pay game one of the best-of-five series Feb. 24 at 8:30 p.m. Game three will be played in Morinville Feb. 29 at 8:30 p.m. If a fifth game is required, it is set to be played Mar. 4 at 6:45 p.m. Games two and four will be played Feb. 26 and Mar. 2 at the Bill Hunter Arena in Edmonton. Game times were not available Wednesday night.
