Morinville – The Morinville Jets picked up another four points over the holiday weekend, defeating the Beaumont Chiefs 6-3 Sunday night and squeaking by the St. Albert Merchants with a 4-3 overtime win Friday evening on the road. The back-to-back wins bring the Jets record to 5-1-0. They currently stand in second place in the West Division tied with the Spruce Grove Regals with five wins and one loss in six outings.

Friday night’s road game to St. Albert saw the Jets leading 2-1 after the opening frame but tied 2-2 and 3-3 after the second and third periods respectively. Thankfully for the Jets they were able to end it in overtime and take the two points.

The Jets play one game this week, a home-ice contest with the Wetaskiwin Icemen. That game takes place Oct. 14 at 6:45 p.m. at the Ray McDonald Sports Centre.
