Fortis Alberta and Home Hardware partnering to save energy

By Morinville News Staff

Morinville – Saturday has been set aside for energy savings. Home Hardware has partnered with Fortis Alberta, owner and operator of more than 60 per cent of Alberta’s total electricity distribution network, to provide free energy savings kits to those who come into the store.

As part of its energy efficiency program, Energy Your Way, Fortis Alberta has teamed up with Home Hardware Stores Limited to provide complimentary energy savings kits during a special in-store event on Mar. 2 in communities the two companies serve.

The concept is called Energy Your Way because Fortis believes energy consumers have the power to monitor and control the energy they use.
Fortis Alberta believes the initiative helps customers by providing the tools to learn about electricity usage and energy conservation. The program seeks to raise awareness of energy efficiency and the solutions that can achieve greater efficiency.

The Energy Savings Kits contain items to help consumers to be more energy efficient at home. Each kit retails for approximately $55 and contains a two-pack of Sylvania 13W CFL bulbs, a Premium Adjustable Register Air Deflector, a Thermor Fridge and Freezer Thermometer, Weather Shield Insulation kits (one window and one patio door kit) and a Woods 24-hour Digital Block Heater Timer.

In addition to the kits, Fortis has included their Home Energy Savings Guide for people wanting more information on practical, simple and low-tech solutions to be more energy efficient at home.

Kits will be offered on a first-come-first-serve, one-per-household basis. Quantities are limited. Home Hardware is located at 9910 100 Street.
