Champion takes second export award this year

After winning the Alberta Chambers of Commerce Award of Distinction in the Export Category, Morinville’s Champion Petfoods once again finds
itself taking home another provincial award. The Alberta Export Awards presented the company with the Agricultural and Consumer Products division award Friday afternoon during a ceremony at the Westin Hotel in Edmonton. Champion was is the running with Green Prairie International Inc.

Champion President and CEO Frank Burdzy said at the time of the company’s being nominated for the award that his 250 teammates at Champion work very hard to export the company’s biologically appropriate foods to more than 70 countries. “They drive our innovation,” Burdzy said at the time.

Morinville and District Chamber of Commerce President Simon Boersma, who attended Friday’s awards event, was pleased with the win. “I think it was a great day for the Town of Morinville,” he said, adding he was pleased with their second provincial export award win this year. “I think we can be proud that we have Champion Petfoods in our community.
