Morinville Jets season comes to a close

The Morinville Jets season came to a close Wednesday night in Edmonton. A 5-4 second OT loss left the Jets 0-3 in a best-of-five round two playoff series.

With 2-0 heading into game three, the Morinville Jets entered Wednesday night’s contest with everything on the line. A win would keep them in the series. A loss would end a successful 2014-2015 season.

The Jets trailed the road game 1-0 at the end of the first and 3-2 at the end of the second. The scoreboard bounced back and forth through the third period until the Jets sent it to overtime at 4-4 with 6:15 on the clock.

But the first five minutes of overtime left both sides lacking the one goal they needed. The second round saw both backstops blocking everything that came their way for much of the period until the Wings Captain Dillon Duley pocket one to end the Jets hopes at playing on.

Though the club lost the series in three straight, a strong effort was put forth in the final game. Even the Red Wings praised the club on their Twitter feed. “Congrats to the [Morinville Jets] on an excellent played game today – Nice clean hockey,” the club wrote.
