The Morinville 3061 1 (CER) Canadian Engineers Regiment Royal Canadian Army Cadets Corps held their 16th Annual Inspection and Awards at the Morinville Curling Club June 9.
The Reviewing Officer was Major Michael Veitch, currently acting as a Commanding Officer for a Field Engineer Squadron at 1 CER at CFB Edmonton.
Events included the arrival of the reviewing party, Inspection of Cadets by Reviewing Officer, March Past, Advance in Review Order, General Salute and Departure of the Reviewing Officer, followed by award presentations and promotions.
The 19 cadets are under the direction of Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major MWO Tyrell Brink, C.O.A.T.S. Corporal Alexander Keightley, Supply Officer Lieutenant Kelly Brissette, Training Officer Captain Robert Hagerty, CD, Admin Officer Captain Michelle Carroll-Leonard, CD1, and Commanding Officer Captain Doug Marietta, CD.
MWO Tyrell Brink qualified for the NSE Level 2 and was the recipient of the Master Cadet, the highest star level a cadet can achieve in their career, the Most Outstanding Cadet that is awarded to a cadet who demonstrates selfless service to the corps. Brink also received the Best NCM Award sponsored by the Lions Club. This is awarded to the cadet who shows great leadership qualities, Esprit de Corps, maintains a high uniform standard and has high attendance. MWO Tyrell Brink is also the Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major.
MCpl Korbin Flett was promoted to MCpl and recipient of the Most Outstanding Red Star.
LCpl Ashton Chiasson was the recipient of the Most Outstanding Cadet for Green Star.
WO Shalom McNaughton was promoted to Warrant Officer and recipient of the Most Outstanding Gold Star.
Sgt Tyrell Flett was promoted to WO, a recipient of the Gold Star and the Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence. This medal is awarded to a cadet who has shown a high degree of participation and leadership in the area of citizenship and in enhancing the aims and objectives of the cadet organization program.
MCpl Liam Allard promoted to MCpl, recipient of Red Star, and awarded the Most Improved Cadet in recognition of hard work and pursuit of excellence in training.
Sgt Carl Hartmann was promoted to Sgt, received the Most Outstanding Silver Star, and the recipient of the Lord Strathcona Medal, the highest award that can be bestowed upon a Royal Canadian Army Cadet.
Other presentations included Cpl Kootenay and Cpl Terry promoted to MCpl, LCpl Taylor to Cpl, Gold Star to MCpl Gilbert, Silver Star to MCpl Oliver, Red Star to MCpl Kootenay, MCpl Terry, Cpl Kachur and LCpl Taylor and Green Star to LCpl Brown, LCpl Hewitt, LCpl Koestlmaier and LCpl Sweet.
