Both the Kings and Jets hit the ice Sunday afternoon, but the two clubs experienced different results. The Kings lost 3-2 to the Edson Ice on the road, and the Morinville Jets shut out the visiting Edmonton Ice 4-0.
Morinville Kings
Although guaranteed a spot in playoffs with their Saturday night victory over Tofield, the Kings were hoping to get as many points as possible.
Sunday’s road trip resulted in a 3-2 loss for the Kings.
The club opened the game leading Edson 1-0 after one, but had their fortunes reversed in the middle frame, ending it 2-1 in Edson’s favour.
Though the Kings pocketed another in the third, Edson duplicating the effort resulted in a one-goal deficit when the buzzer went.
The Kings play their final game of the regular season Jan. 16 at 8:30 p.m. in Morinville.
Morinville Jets
The Jets road to victory Sunday night was half built by Tyler Hagel, who scored once in each of the first and second periods. Hage;’s second goal was scored on a power-play advantage midway through the middle frame.
Brett nd Brandon Dubuc built the second half of the Jets’ four-goal tally in the final frame. Brandon Dubuc’s goal, the final of the game came with 10:08 left int he period when the Jets were down a man.
The Jets (13-16-1) take to the ice this week for two games on the road.
They face the Edmonton Royals Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. and play the Regals Ja. 17 at 7:30 p.m. They play a mid-week home game Jan. 20 at 8:30 p.m. against the Hawks.
