On Aug. 29 Morinville Public School teachers and staff participated in a team building workshop. The teams were provided with a precut wooden kit with no diagram and no access to Google or other devices for ideas on the build. All the pieces of wood had to be utilized in the build. The houses will be auctioned off with the money being used in the community.

Friday morning was the launch of 1000s of everyday prices dropped at Morinville Sobeys.The prices are dropped in grocery, dairy and frozen.

Speaking at the launch on Friday was Scott Chollak, Vice-President of Operations for Sobeys and Kevin Alberton, Director of Operations.

The “We’ve dropped 1000s of everyday prices-This is Not a Sale, This is Our Commitment -price drop flyer is also available in the store said Store Manager Wendy Skjersven.

Sobeys had a dedicated team working day and night the last few weeks to get ready for the biggest launch in Sobeys history.

This is not a sale but the new everyday low price and commitment to the customers said Skjersven.

The launch Friday also took place at all Sobeys stores in Western Canada.

On Tuesday morning members of the Morinville Festival Society were presented with a $750 donation cheque from Synergy Aviation Ltd. Synergy Aviation Ltd. Administration member Lisa Urie, Mayor Lisa Holmes, pilot Justin Cruse were on hand to present the cheque to Korien Sampson, President of the Society and Vice-President Julie Booth.

The aviation company provided helicopter rides at the St. Jean Baptiste Festival and provided more than 100 rides for more than 300 participants. Cruse said the oldest was an 86-year-old woman who had it on her bucket list.

Tomato King

The Tomato King at Aspen House is Joseph Zukowski. He has four tomato plants he grew from seed, and each plant has more than 25 large tomatoes on it. With more than 100 tomatoes and some just beginning to turn red, Zukowski said they must be a later tomato.
