Alexander First Nation will be holding its annual traditional Pow Wow July 2 – 4, an event that has traditionally drawn aboriginal dancers and drummers from all over to take part in the three-day event.

This year’s Pow Wow will see Douglas Bonaise as MC, Albert Dequaine as stickman and Kipohtakaw as host drum.

The event begins July 2 with a mini roundance held in the evening. The Grand Entry will be held at 1 p.m. on July 3 and 4, with a full-day of Aboriginal culture on both days.

This past weekend, community members of Alexander First Nation had the opportunity to give visitors to the Morinville Farmer’s Market a taste of what they can see and hear at this year’s Pow Wow.

In honour of National Aboriginal Day (June 21), the Morinville Royal Bank invited members of Sounding Cree and fancy dancer Nolan Arcand to perform for whoever passed by.
