Morinville – Highway 28 south of Highway 642 was closed for some time yesterday afternoon as RCMP, EMTs and STARS dealt with the aftermath of a two vehicle collision.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:15 Monday afternoon when an SUV, heading east on Hwy. 642, crossed Hwy 28 and was struck by a southbound pickup truck.
Morinville RCMP Constable Yelena Avoine said the female driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Both girls who were in the vehicle with her were taken to hospital, one by STARS air ambulance.
RCMP report there were a total of eight people in the two vehicles involved in the collision.
