St. Albert – Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools trustee Jacquie Hansen, who represents St. Albert on the seven-member school board, was elected president of the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA), an organization that represents Alberta’s 62 locally-elected school boards.
“I have a passion for education; and am honoured to step into this new role with the Alberta School Boards Association,” Hansen said in a release Tuesday, adding she felt blessed to be able to work with her Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools colleagues. “It is a pivotal time in education and I look forward to working with my colleagues at the ASBA for the benefit of all students in the province of Alberta.”
As president of the ASBA, Hansen plans to continue the advocacy work needed to ensure that all school divisions have a voice within provincial government.
Hansen is currently serving her fourth term as school board trustee with Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools and has served the board as both chair and vice-chair. Additionally, Hansen served as vice-chair of the ABSA during the last term.
